ENJOY YOUR FAVOURITE ME-TIME ACTIVITIES

The ancient Greek philosopher, Epicurus invented the idea of simple living in 300BC. Somehow along the way, we’ve generally lost sight of this most simple way to approach life and find happiness, but you can regain it here in Epidavros.

“Not what we have but what we enjoy, constitutes our abundance.”

“We should look for someone to eat and drink with, before looking for something to eat and drink.”

We live a simple life here, not trying to achieve or buy happiness but instead not worrying about the things we can’t control and the worries that cause us unhappiness. Aiming to just feel tranquil with real peace of mind. What the Epicureans call a sense of ‘Ataraxia’.

We bring like-minded people together to enjoy a break away from the demands and stresses of everyday life and help everyone achieve that tranquil feeling of ‘Ataraxia’.

There are many ways to forget your worries in the simple life around Epidavros…

Being in Greece, uniquely enables us to provide dream breaks for all cyclists but also non-cyclists, individuals, couples and groups. We created Breakaway because we wanted our best days here to be like the best days in life itself - not about our speed to a final destination but about a journey - and the people, food, culture and adventures we encounter along the way, whether you do that by bike or around a swimming pool.

  • ISLAND HOPPING & DAY TRIPS

Within 50km and ten-minute island hops we have three well-known islands to visit; Hydra, Spetses and Poros. All have amazing history, great walks, restaurants and hidden swimming spots.

  • TASTE

From dawn to dusk, Epidavros is a mecca for foodies; fresh local produce, from the land and sea, accompanied by kilograms (!) of wine from the local vineyards. We have a dozen favourite restaurants that we hope you get to enjoy. From the hidden away beachside Mouria, where Maria Callas went after performances, to Εστιατόριο Το Καλογερικόν which specialises in Peloponnese dishes, and where the stars often go after attending the annual festival in the amphitheatre.

  • RELAX

Relax at a bar on one of our seven local beaches and hidden coves or chill with a book, around the pool, on the balcony or at Stork, one of the local coffee shops with an amazing view across the whole of the bay.

  • VISIT

While you are with us you can also visit the Epidavros Amphitheatre and sanctuary, the Corinth Canal, historical remains at Nimea, the beautiful former capital of all Greece, Nafplio, the volcanic island of Methane and the local vineyards for some wine tasting. • ATTEND EVENTS

Epidavros really is the cultural capital of Greece, with two original 3,000-year old amphitheatres that both still host epic music and theatre events. Also, being only ninety minutes drive from Athens, you can time your visit to tie-in with a festival such as ‘Release Athens’, which in 2022 features acts such as the Pet Shop Boys, Massive Attack and Nick Cave. And don’t forget to consider coming during Greek Easter, the biggest celebration in the orthodox world – an occasion to experience. See full list of 2022 cultural events that you could attend.

  • REFLECT, CREATE, INSPIRE

We don’t want to see too much day-to-day work going on because Epidavros is perfect for real, blue-sky inspiration, reflection and creative thinking. With numerous coffee shops, balconies and hidden corners that serve both the latest coffees and fast wi:fi, Epidavros could be the place where you come up with that life-changing idea - for your work or even yourself.

  • FLOAT

In Epidavros port are two dive companies that can take you snorkeling around The Sunken City. Our blue sea, distinct lack of currents and tides and generally calm conditions around the bays in the Saronic sea, make this a great destination for divers, SUP’ers, swimmers and water sports fans of all levels.

  • FLY

From the top of the mountain behind us, local company, Flying Paradise can take you paragliding over the whole of Epidavros.

  • WALK, HIKE OR EVEN RUN :)

There are some amazing local routes for following on foot; shorter ones for a walk, longer for a run or even longer for a hike.

The Greek Government are currently opening many cultural walking routes around Epidavros, that lead to monasteries, historical remains or hidden beaches.

  • ENJOY NIGHTS

Epidavros doesn’t close at 11pm, in fact with a 24-hour beach bar by the sea below us, it never closes.

All-night conversation, eating, drinking and dancing are very much welcomed!

  • SUP'ing

We have two Stand Up Paddleboards available for guests to enjoy. We have an amazing route from the villa; down to the sea, SUP over the sunken city, stop off at the five-star beachfront hotel for coffee, SUP past the 3,500-year-old amphitheatre and into town to enjoy lunch or dinner :)

  • Kayaking

Our local kayak company can guide you on tours around our beautiful coastline, to visit secret bays and hidden coves.
